The World Week of Italian Cuisine in Israel is on (23-29 November)

Several workshops, webinars, virtual tours and video recipes are just some of the activities organised for the Fifth edition of the World Week of Italian Cuisine in Israel. You will able to appreciate the best and typical Italian food, so much loved by Israeli, with a special focus on wine tourism.

“The Week of Italian Cuisine in Israel is a must for the country, despite online this year, in order to promote the opportunities that Italy can offer, its amazing landscapes and ancient traditions, as well as the high quality of its local products”, said the Italian Ambassador in Israel Gianluigi Benedetti, showing the rich program of the event. There are more than 30 online activities supplied by the Embassy of Italy in collaboration with ENIT, Italian National Tourist Board, the Italian Cultural Institutes in Tel Aviv and Haifa, the Italian Trade Agency in Tel Aviv and the Israel Italy Chamber of Commerce. “Our efforts are constantly aimed at promoting Made-in-Italy products, consistently with the “Pact for Export” strategy. This is a fundamental issue for a country as Israel, if we consider the increase of 9% of the Italian agri-food market in Israel, during the first nine months of 2020. We will give a “virtual tasting” to Israeli audience, to make them discover cultural and gastronomic traditions around our Italian regions, aiming at a rise in tourism in our country, which has grown steadily until 2019. Wine and food market are a major business attraction, especially for Israeli visitors, always in love with new experiences and local dishes to uncover.”

This year, the meetings, mainly online through social live streaming, will start next Monday 23rd November. The opening event will be “Pellegrino Artusi: journey across Italian culinary history”, to celebrate the bicentenary of Artusi’s birth, famous Italian writer and gastronome. During the full programme of the week, you can join two “Taste Ambassadors” at work: the starred chef Beppe Guida, who will show his two recipes for a “four hands” dinner live, in teamwork with many Italian chefs in Tel Aviv, and Franco Pepe, the best pizza-maker in the world, who made his small village, Caiazzo, famous and known worldwide. The agenda will include a special gourmet dinner in the residence of the Ambassador, which hosts a permanent collection of Italian contemporary art, a scientific webinar, cooking classes and virtual meetings focused on the traditional and regional food and wines: from producing olive oil to discovering the most important wine areas, as well as to the protection of made-in-Italy brands and the Mediterranean diet. Every event will be presented featuring professional institutions, as Alma, Gambero Rosso Academy and Città del Gusto. Finally, you will have the chance to take part to the historical “Mille Miglia” race organised by Alfa Romeo Club across Galilee to Zippori as our last stop, with a final Italian picnic.
