With reference to the initiative promoted by the Ministry on the model of the UN “International gender champions”, this Embassy has adopted the following measures to promote gender equality at the internal organizational level and in its external projection:
- Increase in the presence of women in the workforce (managerial, permanent and contract staff) reaching 49% of the total.
- Out of six diplomatic officials, 50% are women (including the top position of Deputy Head of Mission).
- To reconcile professional and private life, the meetings do not last beyond 18:00 and work commitments on weekends and public holidays are avoided, if not for justified and undelayble needs.
- We asked the Administration and obtained the assignment of a diplomatic official on a short mission to replace a colleague on maternity leave present in the staff.
- The family needs of employees in the organization of holidays, leave, and shifts are taken into due consideration and planning is carried out as early as possible.
- We ensure or encourage women representation in the boards of initiatives and events organized or promoted by the Embassy, for example in the next “Selection Committee” of the Accelerate in Israel program; in the forthcoming “Committee of the Embassy Art Collection”; in the representative bodies of the Association of Italian Scientists and Scholars in Israel (AISSI), whose board is chaired by a woman; in the forthcoming “Scientific Committee of the Embassy”.
