Italy and Israel

Italy was one of the very first countries to recognize the State of Israel in 1948. The first Italian Ambassador to Israel, Carlo Gasparini, arrived in Tel Aviv already in 1949.

Relations between Italy and Israel are characterized by frequent political and institutional visits, a large presence of Italian companies in Israel, a significant and dynamic trade exchange, as well as by a system of bilateral Agreements.

Italian culture is highly appreciated among Israelis, who often visit Italy for study, work, tourism and scientific reasons. Israel is also an important tourist destination for Italians attracted by the discovery of historical and cultural treasures, starting from Jerusalem, and by the beauty of the country’s nature, from the beaches of Tel Aviv and Eilat, to the rocks of the Negev Desert.
