Deep sorrow over the passing of Asher Dishon, one of the last fighters of the “Jewish Brigade”

The Embassy of Italy in Israel expresses deep sorrow overt the passing of Asher Dishon, one of the last fighters of the “Jewish Brigade”, who in 1945 contributed to the liberation of Italy from the Nazi occupation.

Awarded in 2018 with the gold medal for military valor – the highest military honor of the Italian Republic – Asher Dishon had fought in Emilia on the Senio river against the Germans.

“We will always be grateful for his extraordinary act of courage and generosity, which will alwasy be part of our collective memory”, said the Ambassador of Italy to Israel, Gianluigi Benedetti.
